I have not been forced to do a system update or look at advertisements for Edge and OneDrive in ages. If you have decent computer knowledge and have a little bit of time to learn, I really recommend making the switch. There is also a note-taking app called rnote that has an infinite canvas, but it's a relatively new app and I haven't tried it yet. There is no infinite canvas and no cloud syncing, but I'm okay with it and I do periodical manual backups with tools like Deja Dup. In place of OneNote, I use Xournal++ instead. I can now do everything I want to without being forced to sign up for an account that continuously sends data to a corporation. I switched to Linux ( Pop OS) middle of last year and have not turned back to Windows since (except for that one game with a pesky anti-cheat). OneNote Office 365 stills syncs flawlessly, so guess I'm stuck with that until I fix this stupid syncing issue. I used OneNote Office 365 for a while before switching to W10 for the cleaner look, and have used W10 for a few weeks without any problems before this issue happened. I've tried signing out and back in again with my school account, resetting the app in Windows settings and launching the app from OneDrive in the web. Sometimes the error message becomes "Saved offline (error)". From time to time the notebook does sync and I see the cloud icon again, but for less than a minute. Googling it gives very little resources and solutions, all of which I've tried.Ĭlicking the error message gives a dropdown with a Sign-In button that does absolutely nothing when clicked. The error code is E0000024 followed by 5 alphanumeric characters that seem to be different every time. I'm logged into OneNote for Windows 10 with my school account but instead of syncing like a normal piece of software, the message "Saved offline (please sign in)" keeps showing up even though I'm clearly already signed in and my name is showing up at the top right hand corner. Can't tell how annoyed and frustrated I am.

Typically, if you want to use a note-taking app for free you can, as long as you don't exceed the free storage limit. Several of the best note-taking apps are free or at least have a decent free tier of service. Ultimately, the best note-taking app is the one that clicks for you and the type of notes you take. Many of the best note-taking apps also have email forwarding, meaning you can forward an email to a special address and have the message turn up in your note-taking app as a note. Some use optical character recognition ( OCR) to search text even when it's in an image or PDF. The real value comes in being able to organize, share, and find the notes you need when you need them. You can make to-do lists, save and annotate recipes, keep a record of everyone to whom you should send a thank-you card, save copies of your kids' vaccination records, and on and on. You can keep a daily diary, snap pictures of whiteboards filled with meeting notes, save screenshots from virtual meetings, and record lectures while also writing down their most important ideas in the same place. With the right note-taking app, you can make notes about anything and sync them to all your devices. What movies and books did my friends recommend? In that meeting last month, when did the client say they needed approval by? Where's a copy of my eyeglasses prescription? Note-taking apps can help you be more organized and more productive. Having a good note-taking app is like having your own personal internet where you can look up anything you might ever need to know about your work or personal life, no matter where you are. |
